Case Manager Accountability
GAP House maintains appropriate communication with the professional overseeing each resident's case, when applicable and authorized. This may include probation or parole officers, DFCS caseworkers, court personnel, treatment providers, or other referring professionals. This helps support accountability, compliance, and continuity of care.
2. Three-Step Intake Process
Admission is more than completing an application. Our intake process provides several opportunities to determine whether GAP House is an appropriate placement.
Step One -- Director Interview: The Director reviews an application and interviews the prospective resident to discuss her history, recovery needs, expectations, legal obligations, and readiness to participate in the program.
Step Two -- House Manager Interview: A House Manager conducts a separate interview focused on daily living, accountability, house expectations, relationships with other residents, and willingness to live within a structured recovery community.
Step Three -- Family/Next of Kin Contact: When appropriate and with the applicant's consent, GAP House speaks with a family member, next of kin, or other significant support person. This can provide additional background, identify available support, and establish realistic expectations before admission.
3. Women of Different Ages Recover Together
Our residences intentionally bring together adult women approximately 18-60 years of age. Younger women can benefit from the experience and stability of women further along in life, while older residents can develop leadership, encouragement, and mentoring skills. Recovery becomes a community where women learn from one another.
4. Recovery Coaching Maintains Appropriate Independence
When recovery coaching or certain clinical services are needed, they may be provided by qualified professionals outside the direct residential authority structure. A resident may be more comfortable discussing struggles openly with someone who does not determine her housing status. This separation can encourage honesty while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
5. Transportation Is an Earned Privilege
Residents do not initially bring personal vehicles onto GAP House property. Vehicle privileges may be considered as residents demonstrate stability, responsibility, program compliance, and progress toward employment and independence.
